When the Dallas Cowboys visit the high-flying Green Bay Packerson Sunday, Troy Aikman believes the advantage under center goes to Dallas.
The Hall of Fame passer told USA Today on Saturday that he would choose Tony Romo over Aaron Rodgers or any remaining quarterback to make one big play in the postseason.
"I'll tell you, right now, from what I've seen this year -- just talking about this year -- I'd probably take Romo," Aikman said. "I've seen him make too many plays when he's had to make them this year and he's made them."
Aikman -- who will call Sunday's game for Fox -- pointed to Romo's maturity.
"I think he's learned that there's a lot to the position, and that every possession doesn't require you having to make a big play or something spectacular," Aikman said. "He's really done a nice job of that all season long. He hasn't forced the ball down the field for big plays. He's been willing to take what has been there."
Romo has been outstanding this season for an offense that has pounded opponents with the run. When asked to throw, the veteran has repeatedly delivered, compiling a passer rating (113.2) that sits above all others -- including Rodgers (112.2).
Still, Aikman is going to encounter plenty of opposition here. Rodgers is a bona-fide MVP candidate and arguably the finest passer in the NFL today. Considering his outrageous 25:0 touchdown-to-interception ratio at home this season, we know whom we would pick in a pinch.
