Alabama held its pro day on Wednesday, and representatives from all 32 teams were on hand to watch 27 players work out indoors on FieldTurf.
» DE Jonathan Allen (6-2 1/2, 285) stood on all of his combine testing numbers and only participated in position drills. I was told by my scout on the ground in Tuscaloosa that he looked outstanding.
» Pass rusher Ryan Anderson (6-2 1/8, 249) ran two 40-yard dashes in 4.84 and 4.85 seconds, and had a vertical jump of 28 1/2 inches. He was asked to do both linebacker and defensive line positional drills.
» TE O.J. Howard (6-5 5/8, 251) stood on his combine numbers and looked very good in position drills.
» CB Marlon Humphrey (5-11 7/8, 198) stood on his combine numbers and did not participate in field drills.
» OT Cam Robinson (6-6 1/4, 321) was worked out by four NFL offensive line coaches. He looked good in drills; I was told he left no doubt he can play left tackle in the NFL.
» WR ArDarius Stewart (5-11 1/2, 205) only participated in the bench press (10 lifts) and stood on the rest of his combine numbers. He participated in position drills but was limited by a left groin strain.
» DT Dalvin Tomlinson (6-2 3/4, 311) had 22 lifts on the bench press and looked outstanding in drills. He's a very interesting prospect. He turned down scholarship offers to a Yale and Harvard coming out of high school, where he was a state champion in wrestling and a goalkeeper on the soccer team (he's also an artist and dabbles with the trumpet).
» Pass rusherTim Williams (6-3, 242) stood on all of his combine numbers. He said he intends to bench at another workout before the draft.
» WR Gehrig Dieter (6-2 1/4, 208), who wasn't invited to the combine, ran the 40 in 4.61 and 4.56 seconds, had a 32 1/2-inch vertical, a 9-11 broad jump, a 4.33-second short shuttle, a 7.20-second three-cone drill, and added 15 lifts on the bench. He was worked out primarily as a slot receiver.
Here are a couple of other notes on Alabama players who did not work out at the pro day because of injuries:
» LB Reuben Foster (6-0 1/4, 233), recovering from a shoulder surgery, did not work out, but he did meet with teams Tuesday for interviews. Coach Nick Saban defended his former player on Wednesday.
» Safety Eddie Jackson (6-0 5/8, 201) is still recovering from a broken leg he suffered last season. He will work out for clubs in Tuscaloosa on April 11.
