Here's a quarterback sack that never made Sunday's box score.
Ann Mara, widow of late Giants owner Wellington Mara, morphed into a heat-seeking missile following New York's NFC title game victory over the 49ers. Her target? FOX Sports analyst Terry Bradshaw.
As Bradshaw attempted to navigate the victorious Giants locker room for an on-air interview with wide receiver Victor Cruz, feisty Mrs. Mara stepped into his path.
"Hey!" she yelled. “You never pick the Giants!"
"I know, I know. I'm sorry," Bradshaw said, before telling a national TV audience, "I'm getting hammered for not picking the Giants."
The Hall of Fame quarterback towered over Mara, but as she wiggled her finger at him and gave him heat for dissing Big Blue, she was in complete control.
"I missed most of that, to be honest with you, because I was ushered over to the press-conference side, but I did hear a little bit about that this afternoon," Giants coach Tom Coughlintold the New York Daily News on Monday. "I know that in many ways, many times, Mrs. Mara's attitude is reflective of the way that we would hope our team plays. She has great energy and tremendous interest, and she is so interested in the team playing well and doing well."
Ann's granddaughter, Rooney Mara, recently received Golden Globe and Oscar nominations for her lead role in "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo," and it's evident where that on-screen moxie comes from (minus the extensive piercings).
"I didn't see it," Giants quarterback Eli Manning told reporters Tuesday. "I heard about it. I saw it on the news. You have to laugh."
