What a year it’s been for Saquon Barkley.
In the past 11 months, the running back signed a new contract in Philadelphia, rushed for 2,000-plus yards, leaped over a defender backward, won the Offensive Player of the Year award, set the new single-season mark for most rushing yards, including playoffs, and won a Super Bowl -- on his birthday.
He can add another feather: A baby penguin was named after him.
Adventure Aquarium named a baby blue penguin born on Super Bowl Sunday “Saquon” after his Feb. 9 birthday mate.
“We couldn’t be more excited to welcome a new, healthy chick to our little blue penguin colony!” Director of Aquarium Operations Marc Kind said in a statement, via PHL17 news. “The timing of Saquon’s hatch on Super Bowl Sunday, coupled with the Eagles’ big win, made naming this little penguin after Saquon Barkley a no-brainer!”

The nestling will remain out of the public eye until he’s two months old as he learns to eat, fish and swim and before joining the rest of his colony at the Penguin Park at Adventure Aquarium.
