Atlanta Falcons sign rookie RB Tevin Coleman

The Atlanta Falcons have Tevin Coleman under contract.

The third-round running back signed his rookie contract on Tuesday, according to the team's official website.

Drawing comparisons to a young Darren McFadden, Coleman figures to play a major role in Atlanta's backfield alongside Devonta Freeman.

The 5-foot-11, 206-pound Indiana product was praised by scouts for his one-cut running style, making him a strong fit for play-caller Kyle Shanahan's zone-based ground attack.

"I'm going to come in there and I'm going to get a starting spot," Coleman told reporters after the draft, per ESPN.com. "That's what I'm going to do. Whoever is the starting back, they don't have to work. I'm coming in and working right away."

We know that Shanahan isn't afraid to lean on rookie runners after using Houston's Steve Slaton, Washington's Alfred Morris and Cleveland's Isaiah Crowell and Terrance West as bona fide starters. Coleman, we believe, was drafted for a similar reason.
