With both Matt Forte and Marion Barber inactive for Sunday night's game, the Chicago Bears started third-string running back Kahlil Bell against the Green Bay Packers. The move confirms a report from earlier in the week, which had indicated that Barber, who is dealing with an injured calf, would not be available.
Bell, a third-year player, has 162 yards on 32 carries this season, and has started just one other game in his career.
Bell "can make you miss in the open field," Bears coach Lovie Smith told the Chicago Tribune earlier this week. "He can run with power inside. He can catch the ball out of the backfield. I'm excited about the opportunity he has."
The Packers are again short-handed along the offensive line. Offensive tackle Bryan Bulaga is inactive with a knee injury. Offensive tackle Chad Clifton, who was a limited participant in practice after missing the last nine games, was also ruled out, as was defensive end Ryan Pickett.
