The odds Cincinnati Bengals linebacker Vontaze Burfict will see the field Sunday got a whole lot better.
The team announced Saturday they have activated the tackling maven to the active roster from the PUP list.
Burfict was cleared to practice this week and NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported Friday that there was "a good chance" the linebacker would play Sunday versus the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Activating Burfict indicates the Bengals like those chances as well. He'll test out his surgically repaired knee prior to game time.
Burfict, 25, played just five games in 2014 and underwent microfrature surgery, often a brutal surgery to return from. After 10 months of rehab, Burfict appears ready to get back on the field. We expect the Bengals to ease the fourth-year pro back into the rotation.
The Bengals cut receiver Greg Little to make room on the active roster. Little was not active for a game in 2015 after seeing action in six contests for Cincinnati in 2014.
