A day after Vikings receiver Bernard Berrian engaged in a nasty Twitter exchange with a Minnesota lawmaker, cooler heads seemed to prevail.
The St. Paul Pioneer Press reported Monday that Berrian left a voicemail for Rep. John Kriesel, R-Cottage Grove, and plans to apologize for an unintentional insult, but he disagreed when a reporter asked about the two being engaged in a "Twitter war."
"Nobody got shot," Berrian said. "Just a couple of friendly words going back and forth between two people."
Berrian responded, "Anytime u wanna watch the film with me. Not just one game but all of them ... and if not sit down n shut up!!"
Kriesel, who lost both of his legs in 2006 while serving in Iraq with the Minnesota National Guard, responded: "Don't be pissed at me dude. Make a play."
Kriesel, who has co-authored a bill to help the Vikings fund a new stadium in Minnesota, tweeted on Monday that Berrian has tried to reach out to him.
"For everybody asking, Berrian called me and left a message to call him," Kriesel wrote. "I called him back but got his voicemail. Will talk to him later."
Kriesel told the Pioneer Press that no apologies are needed.
"I'm an adult," Kriesel said. "I ripped him on Twitter. If you can dish it out, you better be able to take it."
