Thanks in part to Week 6, the Big 12 rankings have already had a shakeup compared to where things stood at the beginning of the season. As we progress further into the conference schedule, things have a chance to change even more in the only league with a true round-robin format. We'll see some clarity after Saturday when it comes to the top, but thanks to TCU's upset of Oklahoma, a number of programs still have a shot at the Big 12 title.
1. TCU (4-0, 1-0 Big 12)
Up next: at Baylor
The skinny: Thanks to their biggest win since joining the conference, the Horned Frogs are on top for now but will have another huge test at rival Baylor.
2. Baylor (5-0, 2-0)
Up next: vs. TCU
The skinny: The offense hasn't been clicking on all cylinders, but thankfully for the Bears, the defense looks like one of the top units in the conference.
3. Oklahoma (4-1, 1-1)
Up next: vs. Texas (in Dallas)
The skinny: The Sooners' playoff and Big 12 title hopes took a hit after their loss last week, but this is still a very talented team that's capable of winning the league.
4. Kansas State (4-1, 2-0)
Up next: at Oklahoma
The skinny: Outside of a tough home loss to the defending SEC champions, the Wildcats have been rolling through their schedule behind an explosive offense and stingy defense.
5. Oklahoma State (4-1, 2-0)
Up next: at Kansas
The skinny: Backup quarterback Daxx Garman continues to keep the offense rolling, but the competition level is about to pick up significantly after a trip to Lawrence.
6. West Virginia (3-2, 1-1)
Up next: at Texas Tech
The skinny: Clint Trickett and Kevin White continue to be one of the most productive QB-WR combos in the country as the Mountaineers continue to look like a tough out in the Big 12.
7. Texas (2-3, 1-1)
Up next: vs. Oklahoma (in Dallas)
The skinny: The Longhorns bring a very tough defense into the Red River Rivalry but are looking to get something going on the offensive side of the ball.
8. Iowa State (1-4, 0-3)
Up next: vs. Toledo
The skinny: The Cyclones' record might not be what they want it to be, but the team has looked competitive for stretches in every single game.
9. Texas Tech (2-3, 0-2)
Up next: vs. West Virginia
The skinny: The defense has been terrible, but a sputtering offense that has turned the ball over is also a pressing concern.
10. Kansas (2-3, 0-2)
Up next: vs. Oklahoma State
The skinny: Charlie Weis is gone, but the Jayhawks' spot in the Big 12 pecking order stays the same.
