Arian Foster missed eight games in 2013 and sat out the entire preseason slate, but Houston Texans coach Bill O'Brien said he plans to ride the veteran running back in his first game back on Sunday against the Washington Redskins.
"Arian's going to play a lot," O'Brien said, per the Houston Chronicle. "After that, we'll see how it goes."
Jonathan Grimes and rookie Alfred Blue did most of the preseason lifting while Foster rested a hamstring injury. The upcoming duo could see time down the road, but O'Brien doesn't plan on making it a running back by committee situation.
"I believe at some point you'll see all three of those other backs: Jonathan Grimes, Alfred Blue and Ronnie Brown in different situations. But Arian will get the bulk of the playing time," O'Brien said.
Foster said earlier this week he felt "wonderful physically."
The 28-year-old is the Texans' best offensive commodity at this point and looked good last year before undergoing back surgery. The question with Foster is whether he can stay healthy while carrying that full workload for an entire season.
