ORCHARD PARK, NY – The Bills today announced the signing of sixth round draft selection (184th overall) John Wendling. In accordance with team policy terms of the deal were not disclosed.
The Wyoming safety started 37 of 47 games and finished 10th in school history with 259 tackles. During his career he accumulated six interceptions, 2.0 sacks and three forced fumbles.
Wendling was a Draddy Award finalist (which is awarded annually by the National Football Foundation to the top football scholar-athlete in the country), second-team All-American and All-MWC first-team selection as a senior. He also was named to the Academic All-Conference team four years in a row. Wendling received his degree in Business Administration.
He is a native of Rock Springs, Wyoming.
Wendling is the fourth of the Bills’ seven draft picks to sign with the team.
The Bills have released offensive lineman Randy Hand.
