Construction on part of the University of Houston's new football stadium has been halted while UH police investigate the discovery of a body found at the site Monday morning.
"All indications are that this was a suicide," a university spokesman told the Houston Chronicle.
The body was found in the stadium's southwest corner by a construction worker at about 7:30 a.m. on Monday, and work will not resume until the investigation is complete. It is unclear how the death occurred. Construction had been scheduled for completion in time for the Cougars' Aug. 29, season-opening home game against Texas-San Antonio, which will be broadcast by ESPNU.
The deceased was not identified.
