Brandon Marshallreturned to the practice field Tuesday after undergoing his third hip surgery in four years in January.
The latest procedure, according to Marshall, was performed to alleviate some of the strength and flexibility problems he's been dealing with the past several seasons.
The dynamic Chicago Bears wide receiver said he expects to be fully healthy in 2013 but knows it's an issue he probably will have to deal with the rest of his career and beyond.
"It's one of those things where probably when I'm done (playing), it's going to be one of those things where I'm going to have to stay on it," Marshall said, according to The Associated Press. "But it's a scope. I'm excited that's all it is. I have to be smart, continue just to rehab throughout the season and throughout the rest of my career. But I'm just thankful that we caught it and it's in a place where it's a non-weight-bearing part of the bone. That's good."
Marshall set a franchise record for catches (118) and receiving yards (1,508) in 2012. With those records coming while injured, Marshall said he's "excited" to see what he can do when healthy.
While missing the beginning of the Bears' offseason workouts, Marshall has been getting up to speed on the new offense, and so far he likes what he sees from his new coaching staff.
"I've never been around better coaches," he said. "(Former Bears coach) Lovie (Smith): amazing coach, amazing man. Coach (Mike) Shanahan: amazing coach, one of the gurus of the game. (Former QB coach) Josh McDaniels, one of the gurus on offense. But what we have here in (coordinator Aaron) Kromer and coach Trestman, their leadership on offense is amazing. I've never been around it."
