Brian Hoyer didn't have to wait long after the NFL Draft to find his next NFL home.
The eight-year veteran has agreed to terms on a one-year deal with the Chicago Bears, the team announced Saturday. NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported Saturday the deal is worth $2 million.
Hoyer, who started a disastrous playoff game for the Texans in January, visited with the New York Jets and Denver Broncos after his release from the Texans earlier this month. The Jets have made it clear the only veteran they want to sign is Ryan Fitzpatrick, while the Broncos seemingly filled their quarterback need during the draft with first-round pick Paxton Lynch.
In Chicago, Hoyer figures to be the clear backup to Jay Cutler. David Fales and Matt Blanchard are the only other two quarterbacks on the roster. Despite throwing for 19 touchdowns with only seven picks last year, Hoyer figures to settle into the phase of his career where he's no longer competing to start for a team in Week 1. He has been with six teams in his eight seasons.
