Brian Urlacher mum about reported knee procedure

Brian Urlacher might have had a pioneering procedure on his ailing knee this spring, but the Chicago Bears linebacker isn't talking about it. At least not now.

"I didn't think there were any quotes from me, or anybody else for that matter?" Urlacher said Wednesday, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.

"I didn't think so. It doesn't matter what I did or haven't done. This is where we're at now, so that's all that matters."

When asked if he traveled abroad in May or June, Urlacher kept stonewalling.

"I went to Europe last year," he said. "We played in London. So I was definitely in Europe last year."

The Chicago Tribune reported Tuesday that Urlacher underwent "non-evasive treatment" on his left knee. The eight-time Pro Bowl selection met with "that famous doctor everybody goes to," a source told the newspaper.

That "famous doctor" is likely German physician Peter Wehling, whose Regenokine therapy has not been approved in the U.S. by the Food and Drug Administration. Other notable athletes to be treated by Wehling include Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez and Lakers guard Kobe Bryant.

It's unclear why Urlacher would be unwilling to discuss the treatment, but that is his right. The linebacker plans to be ready for Week 1, but he's yet to appear in a preseason game or even practice with teammates.
