ENGLEWOOD, Colo. -- Broncos linebacker Elvis Dumervil has signed his restricted free-agent tender of $3.168 million.
The reigning NFL sacks leader had until Monday to sign or the team could have reduced the amount to 110 percent of his 2009 salary, which was around $540,000.
Dumervil finished with 17 sacks in 2009 and earned his first Pro Bowl selection.
He joined the team for minicamp over the weekend despite not having yet signed his tender. Dumervil said he understands that football "has a business side to it" and that his "stats speak for themselves."
Dumervil has 43 sacks in his career after being taken in the fourth round of the 2006 draft out of Louisville.
