BEREA, Ohio -- Cleveland Browns return specialist and part-time quarterback Josh Cribbs missed practice with an unspecified knee injury.
Cribbs was one of 14 players who sat out practice Wednesday. The Brownssent 12 players home with flulike symptoms and had 23 players listed on their injury report.
Cribbs ran back a kickoff 98 yards for a touchdown during Sunday's 27-14 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers. The former college QB also lined up behind center in a Wildcat formation and gained 45 yards on six carries. He also threw an interception.
Kicker Phil Dawson (calf) and tight end Steve Heiden (knee) both were kept out of practice. Dawson has missed Cleveland's past four games. Quarterback Derek Anderson (ankle) was listed on the week's initial injury report, but he took part in practice.
In other news, Browns linebacker D'Qwell Jackson underwent surgery in New York to repair his injured shoulder.
Jackson's agent, Brian Mackler, said the Browns' leading tackler is expected to make a full recovery in 12 weeks. The operation took place at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York and was performed by Dr. Frank Cordasco.
Jackson was hurt while defending a pass during the first half of Sunday's game.
