On the heels of issuing a statement about the team's pursuit of San Francisco 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh, the Browns have denied a report from CBSSports.com suggesting that Cleveland's coordinators would have reported to CEO Joe Banner had he not been fired earlier this month.

The Browns told ProFootballTalk on Tuesday that their coordinators -- Kyle Shanahan and Jim O'Neil -- will report directly to coach Mike Pettine, noting that the organization has never veered from that model during Jimmy Haslam's ownership.

Assuming that to be true, it's reassuring to hear that nobody in Cleveland thought it would be wise to have play-callers on either side of the ball reporting to Banner, who lost Haslam's confidence down the stretch.

In an offseason flush with bizarre and intriguing narratives involving the Browns, this one -- as Pettine would say -- is nothing more than "noise."
