With a new coach and front office in place, the Browns are in for another offseason of sweeping changes.
Cleveland got down to business on Thursday, terminating the contracts of defensive lineman Randy Starks and backup tight end Jim Dray, per VP of football operations Sashi Brown.
Starks was a 15-game starter last year who logged 477 snaps and finished at the league's 28th-ranked 3-4 end, per Pro Football Focus. The 32-year-old lineman was a logical bubble candidate for a Browns defense starting over again under new coordinator Ray Horton. Look for Starks to latch on elsewhere as a rotational defender.
Dray operated as a reserve tight end for the Browns over the past two seasons, notching 23 catches for 303 yards with one touchdown in 32 appearances.
It's hardly the last move for the Browns. The team is expected to cut troubled quarterback Johnny Manziel when the new league year launches on March 9, while Pro Bowl center Alex Mack is a likely candidate to opt out of his contract.
With new schemes in place on both sides of the ball, Cleveland's roster will look vastly different from the ghost ship that floated to a 3-13 record in 2015.
