On Monday, Buffalo Bills GM Buddy Nix revealed during a segment for the team's website that the Lions offered to trade down from No. 5 to No. 8. The Bills declined. They knew they wanted quarterback EJ Manuel and were looking to trade down for him.
"You've got to give up too much to move up. We had guys that we thought would be there and had our favorite there so we weren't interested in moving up," Nix said.
The potential trade creates an interesting what-if. Would the Cleveland Browns have drafted Ansah at No. 6 if the Lions had passed? If that happened, Barkevious Mingo could have fallen to the New York Jets. I was about to take this one even further -- all the way down to Geno Smith -- but it's easy to get lost if I go any farther down this rabbit hole.
