Plagued by injuries in 2014, Calvin Johnson was left off the All-Pro team for the first time in four years.
While national pundits laud Antonio Brown as the NFL's best receiver and debate whether Dez Bryant should become the game's highest-paid wideout, Johnson is ready to reclaim his crown in 2015.
Johnson was asked Thursday if he still has big seasons left in his career now that he has turned 30 years old.
"No doubt," Johnson replied, via The Detroit News. "What'd I miss, four, almost five games last year? Still came up with just over 1,000. So I still have some production left."
It speaks to Johnson's dominance that he still managed to finish in the top 20 in receiving yards (1,077) and touchdown receptions (8) despite playing through a lingering high-ankle sprain.
"The guy's a warrior," Matthew Stafford said, "and last year, he was banged up quite a bit the whole year."
Johnson also battled through knee and finger injuries that resulted in offseason surgeries prior to last season. This is the healthiest he has been in a few years.
"I feel good, man, I'm in a good place right now," Johnson said. "I had a whole offseason to heal up. The biggest difference from last year is, we know the (Joe Lombardi) offense way better, simply because it's the second year in. I can almost say we're 100 percent better than last year at this time."
Even with their best player banged up last season, the Lions earned just their second trip to the postseason this century.
If Johnson stays healthy, they could reach the playoffs in back-to-back years for the first time since 1995.
