Cardinals' Marvin Harrison Jr. out to carve his 'own path' in visit to Indianapolis

It's apropos that Arizona Cardinals receiver Marvin Harrison Jr.'s first joint practice was in Indianapolis, where his father carved out a Hall of Fame career.

Harrison Jr., born in 2002, doesn't have many memories from his father's 13-year career in Indy, which ended in 2008, but the rookie appreciates the full-circle moment.

"It is kind of crazy," Harrison Jr. said Wednesday, via the team's official website. "The first joint practice against the Colts, who would've thought that?"

Harrison Sr. attended the first of two workouts the Cards and Colts will hold before this weekend's preseason game.

While the younger Harrison appreciates the history, he's out to carve out his own memorable career.

"I made it at this point, with my own path," Harrison Jr. said. "I just want to work hard and see where it takes me."

The No. 4 overall pick got his feet wet last week in the Cardinals' first preseason game against New Orleans, playing three snaps. Coach Jonathan Gannon declined to say how much he planned to play Harrison Jr. -- if at all -- this week against Indianapolis.

"For a rookie, he's a pro's pro," Gannon said. "He's excited to play (in Indiana) for the reasons that you would think. He tries to get better every day. He keeps his head down and handles his business."
