Braxton Miller was a two-time Big Ten Player of the Year as a quarterback from 2012-13, but things changed when he was lost for the 2014 season with a shoulder injury.
J.T. Barrett filled in admirably -- going 11-1 as a freshman starting quarterback -- and when Barrett got hurt, Cardale Jones led the Buckeyes to the national title after prevailing in the first-ever College Football Playoff.
With a very uncertain place on the team's depth chart at quarterback, Miller chose to switch positions. Miller is now a "full-time wide receiver" (his coach's words), moving into the Buckeyes' H-back role, which can make him a threat as a receiver as well as a rusher (a role similar to what Percy Harvin played at Florida under coach Urban Meyer). This will allow Ohio State to utilize Miller's dynamic talents, and further enhance his draft stock come winter time.
Pulling back the curtain on the vote
Miller earned votes from just two of seven CFB 24/7 experts, but both votes came in the top five. That speaks to the faith of some insiders in Miller's ability to make a smooth transition from quarterback to receiver.
