The San Diego Chargers have signed free agent Everette Brown to bolster a pass rush that has just 13 sacks in seven games, the San Diego Union-Tribune reported Tuesday.
Brown played defensive end for the Carolina Panthers but is expected to switch to outside linebacker for the Chargers, who've had depth problems at the position, with Larry English on injured reserve and Shaun Phillips battling a foot injury.
The Chargers will release defensive end Ogemdi Nwagbuo to make room on the roster for Brown, who signed a two-year deal.
The Panthers drafted Brown in the second round in 2009. In two seasons with the team he started three games and had six sacks.
