Charles Tillman will be on the field Sunday night for the Chicago Bears.
The Chicago Bears cornerback avoided questions on the matter Wednesday when asked directly if he would miss the game against Houston if his wife went into labor, but wrote on Twitter that his wife would be giving birth on Monday.
"God, family, football," he wrote. "Baby is coming Monday don't worry I'll be there Sunday."
It's a little crazy Tillman has to answer the questions at all. The Chicago Sun-Times notes that his daughter Tiana required a heart transplant to survive the first year of her life. The experience inspired Tillman and his wife Jackie to start the Cornerstone Foundation.
Tillman was the finalist for the NFL's Walter Payton Man of the Year award because of his foundation's success. He's often talked about putting his family before football. Bears coach Lovie Smith and Tillman fully support that stance.
It appears Tillman won't have to make a choice between the two this week. He'll do his job on Sunday night, and then get to the important stuff.
