New Texas coach Charlie Strong drew all sorts of criticism in the spring after telling a gathering of Longhorns fans that their team wouldn't reach the national championship game.
He's looking prophetic now, if not any more appreciated.
BYU brought the Texas-Strong honeymoon to an abrupt end as BYU quarterback Taysom Hill led a 41-7 win in the Longhorns' 100,119-seat house. Hill completed 18 of 27 passes for 181 yards and rushed for another 99 to spoil things in Austin.
This play, in particular, was a forgettable one for Texas fans:
The Cougars (2-0) rolled up 248 rushing yards and allowed only 82, setting a tone for the win on the line of scrimmage.
Things won't get much easier for Strong, as three of the Longhorns' next four opponents are nationally ranked: UCLA (Sept. 13), Baylor (Oct. 4) and Oklahoma (Oct. 11).
Ouch.
