The Seattle Seahawks and defensive end Chris Clemons reached an agreement on a multiyear contract, a source with direct knowledge of the talks said Monday.

Clemons' agent, Don Henderson, confirmed the deal in a text message to The Associated Press. The contract hasn't yet been signed, and terms weren't immediately available.
Clemons skipped the Seahawks' mandatory minicamp last month, forfeiting $1 million in base-salary escalations. He also reportedly turned down a two-year, $14 million contract extension earlier this offseason.
The Seahawks had the opportunity to use the 2012 franchise tag on Clemons for a projected $10.835 million.
Clemons has started all 32 games for the Seahawks over the past two seasons, totaling 100 tackles and 24 sacks. The Seahawks used their 2012 first-round draft pick on West Virginia pass-rush specialist Bruce Irvin, who's expected to play opposite Clemons.
