After failing to landC.J. Anderson in free agency, the Miami Dolphins are continuing their search for help in the backfield.
NFL Media's Rand Getlin reported that former Titans, Jets and Cardinals runner Chris Johnson will visit the team on Wednesday, per a source.
Johnson played well out of the gate for Arizona last season, pounding his way for 814 yards at 4.2 yards per carry before landing on injured reserve in December with a fractured tibia. He lost speed down the stretch, but Johnson looked fresh during the early part of last season.
Now healthy and entering his age-31 campaign, Johnson expressed hope in staying with the Cardinals, but Arizona is committed to turning uber-talented second-year back David Johnson into a full-time workhorse.
The Dolphins loom as a good fit for the once-named CJ2K, even if football czar Mike Tannenbaum sees second-year runner Jay Ajayi as a three-down back. The fifth-round pick accounted for just 187 yards on the ground as a rookie, leaving Miami to look for depth after losing Lamar Miller to the Texans.
