Josh Freeman opined Wednesday that the Minnesota Vikings"do things the right way around here."
Rather predictable athlete-speak from the guy who just got the starting quarterback job. But what about the guy he replaced, the freshly benched Christian Ponder?
Asked if he'd be open to a trade, Ponder told reporters: "I don't know."
"Again, I have to figure out what's best for me and everything and for this team," Ponder said Wednesday, per the St. Paul Pioneer Press. "I don't know if that's staying here or going somewhere else."
Nobody can relate to Ponder's confusion more than Freeman, who was benched and released by a Tampa Bay Buccaneers club that decided changing signal-callers midstream was in the best interest of the organization.
Vikings coach Leslie Frazier and general manager Rick Spielman both used the words "bright future" to describe Ponder's status on the roster, but that couldn't be further from accurate.
Ponder's days in Minnesota are numbered, withering and ticking away. Just ask Freeman.
