The Indianapolis Colts already had lost two members of their impressive 2012 NFL Draft class when Vick Ballard and Dwayne Allen went down with season-ending injuries.
Now they will have to do without their first-round selection in the 2013 NFL Draft.
Coach Chuck Pagano revealed Monday that outside linebacker Bjoern Werner will miss four to six weeks after suffering a torn plantar fascia in his right foot early in Sunday's 37-3 win at the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Werner recorded four tackles, one-half sack and one quarterback pressure this season as a pass-rushing specialist behind starter Erik Walden.
"(Werner) was getting better every week," Pagano said, via The Indianapolis Star. "He was trending in the right direction. He was getting more comfortable. You could see the confidence level rising. Scheme-wise he wasn't thinking. He was playing faster."
Cam Johnson, acquired from the 49ers earlier this month, is the favorite to take over Werner's role while the rookie is on the shelf.
Johnson will be tested immediately, with upcomingmatchups against the undefeated Seattle Seahawks and Denver Broncos on top of a date with the white-hotPhilip Rivers.
