CHICAGO -- Brady Quinn and Derek Anderson never left the sideline during Thursday night's preseason finale against the Chicago Bears, adding another twist to the Cleveland Browns' quarterback competition.
Instead, second-year pro Brett Ratliff started the game and split time with Richard Bartel as the Browns closed out the preseason with a 26-23 loss to the Chicago Bears.
"As I said, I have nothing to add right now pertaining to that," said Mangini, who kept just about all of his projected starters out of the game. "The information I have based on what they have done to this point is what the decision is going to be based on."
Quinn and Anderson were in uniform, but what many thought would be the quarterbacks' final audition for the starting job turned into nothing more than a night off. Neither quarterback was available for comment after the game.
The two have split time this preseason with near-equivalent statistics. Quinn is 21 of 31 with 225 yards in two starts, and Anderson is 15 of 26 with 207 yards in one.
Quinn played four series in last week's 23-17 victory over the Tennessee Titans last week and went 11 of 15 for 128 yards against one of the NFL's top defenses. That included a 20-yard touchdown to Braylon Edwards, Cleveland's lone TD pass in the first three games.
Anderson was 7 of 11 with 77 yards, but he made two questionable throws and took a sack that killed a possible scoring drive.
The Browns also held out Pro Bowl nose tackle Shaun Rogers, linebacker David Bowens, linebacker Titus Brown and offensive lineman Rex Hadnot. The Bears were without cornerback Charles Tillman, who's recovering from back surgery, along with defensive lineman Israel Idonije (hamstring), tight end Kellen Davis (hamstring) and defensive end Henry Melton (foot).
