Corey Davis won't run 40-yard dash at NFL Combine or pro day

INDIANAPOLIS -- There will be a lot of money at stake for Corey Davis whenever he runs a 40-yard dash for scouts, but NFL evaluators will be waiting a while before they get the opportunity to time him.

Davis, NFL Network draft expert Mike Mayock's No. 1 WR in the draft, won't run the 40 on Saturday at the NFL Scouting Combine, and said on Friday that he will not run the 40 at Western Michigan's March 15 pro day, either. The former WMU star is recovering from a reported minor ankle surgery, and said he intends to schedule a private workout for scouts in April.

There could be a lot riding on that workout. NFL.com analyst Bucky Brooks recently wrote that he views Davis as a top-40 pick who could rise to the top 15 with a 40 of 4.50 seconds or better.

Mayock's No. 2 WR, Clemson's Mike Williams, said on Friday that he will not run the 40 at the combine on Saturday, but will run it at his March 16 pro day.
