Icing the kicker isn't just for the kicker anymore.
New York Giants defensive end Jason Pierre-Paultold ProFootballTalk Live on Monday that the timeout called by coach Tom Coughlin before the Dallas Cowboys attempted a game-tying field goal Sunday night gave him a chance to devise the strategy that resulted in his game-saving block.
That change in approach allowed Pierre-Paul to get enough penetration to reach up and deflect Bailey's 47-yard attempt, sealing the Giants' 37-34 win and creating a tie atop the NFC East, with the Giants and Cowboys each sitting at 7-6.
For Bailey, it was the second straight week that he was iced before missing a potential game-tying or game-winning kick. At least this time it wasn't his own coach applying the ice.
