The top of the 2015 NFL Draft is not set in stone at the moment, but, approximately three weeks out, it is coming into focus.
Florida State quarterback Jameis Winston figures to go first overall to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and then the Tennessee Titans will likely pick between Oregon quarterback Marcus Mariota or USC defensive lineman Leonard Williams. After that is anybody's guess, but at least one prospect thinks he has a good idea of who the selection will be at No. 3 overall to the Jacksonville Jaguars: himself.
"I'd be stunned, just because of the scheme that coach Gus (Bradley) has," Florida edge rusher Dante Fowler Jr.told ESPN after his pro day Tuesday. "I feel like as far as him being on the multiple side, 4-3 and the 3-4, I can set the edge and I can come off the edge standing up.
"I'll be surprised (if the Jaguars don't draft me), but that's how the draft goes. I'm just happy that I'm getting drafted and I'm getting drafted on the first day."
Fowler is predicted by several NFL.com mock drafts to go in the No. 3 spot to the Jaguars, and he is widely viewed as a good fit for the team based on its need at the position and the fact he has rocketed up draft boards after a good outing at the NFL Scouting Combine.
The former Gators pass rusher is even getting to know the organization a little better by heading to Jacksonville for a visit this week. He is already thinking about donning the team's jersey in Chicago when the first round of the draft rolls around on April 30.
"I actually just got invited last weekend," Fowler remarked. "That would be great if Jameis and Marcus aren't there. I'll feel like I'm the first guy taken in the draft because I'm going to be on the stage first. Whatever pans out, I'm just happy to be there, to be in that environment. ... It's something special."
The Jaguars are certainly hoping that is the case when it comes to both the moment at the draft and in the case of Fowler's career with the team -- if he is indeed the team's first-round selection.
