The preseason can only tell us so much. It helps to decide some starting jobs. It gives us a peek at some promising rookies. And it proves that some veterans are healthy once again.
It only took one quarter of action Thursday night in Denver to realize that DeMarcus Ware is back to being DeMarcus Ware.
In his brief work, Ware recorded a quarterback sack, stuffed a run at the line of scrimmage and recorded two more quarterback pressures. His best play was wiped out by a penalty, but it showed that Ware is feeling like his old self.
Russell Wilson was unable to outrace Ware to the outside on a scramble, eventually forced to throw the ball away as he got to the sideline.
Denver's signing of Ware was a high-risk, high-reward move. Ware, 32, has always been a huge difference maker if he's 100 percent. He just hasn't been healthy nearly as much over the last two seasons, even when he's on the field. Thursday's performance by Ware was a great sign for the Broncos that he's entering the season at full strength.
