After injuring himself during a practice drill Monday, Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant underwent an MRI on his right knee, which only revealed patellar tendinitis, according to Rowan Kavner of DallasCowboys.com.
Breer: Disappointment in Big D
Jerry Jones tells Albert Breer last season was "the most disappointing year" of his entire Cowboys tenure. **More ...**
Bryant will not require surgery, Kavner reported.
Bryant slipped out of a break during a one-on-one practice drill and headed to the locker room with Cowboys head athletic trainer Jim Maurer a short time later. Bryant told reporters he was fine, but he didn't return to practice.
The Cowboys play their third preseason game Saturday against the St. Louis Rams. Bryant has seen limited playing time in the first two games, catching three passes for 39 yards.
If Bryant is shelved for any stretch of time, Tony Romo will be forced to prepare for the regular season without either of his top two receivers. Miles Austin will be sidelined until Week 1 with a hamstring injury.
Bryant was one of three Cowboys receivers to get hurt Monday. Andre Holmes (back) and Donovan Kemp (knee) also left practice.
UPDATE: There is no timetable set for Bryant's return, and the receiver will be evaluated on a day-to-day basis, according to an announcement by the Cowboys.
