NFL spokesman Greg Aiello said Tuesday that Miami Dolphins wide receiver Brandon Marshall will not be disciplined by the league for an April stabbing incident that also involved his wife.
According to The Palm Beach Post, Aiello said that since no charges were filed in the incident, Marshall isn't subject to discipline under the NFL's personal-conduct policy.
Marshall allegedly was stabbed in the stomach by his wife during a domestic dispute at their home. His wife initially was arrested and charged with felony battery, but the charges were dropped last month because of lack of evidence.
Despite the fact that Marshall was the alleged victim in the incident, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said over the summer that he was monitoring the case.
According to police reports, Marshall initially lied to deputies about how he got his stomach wound, and he didn't cooperate with authorities during the formal investigation. Marshall’s wife also had cuts and bruises on her hands and feet.
Marshall was suspended for one game in 2009 for violating the league's personal-conduct policy.
