For the second consecutive day, Dolphins coach Joe Philbin chose not to address his quarterback plans ahead of Miami's Week 4 matchup against the Oakland Raiders.
"At the end of the week, we're going to pick the 46 guys that give us the best chance to win the game in London," Philbin said Tuesday.
Although NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported Monday there is legitimate talk the Dolphins might bench Ryan Tannehill, it now appears that Philbin will hold off for at least another week.
Tannehill has struggled through three weeks and was unable to move the offense in Sunday's home loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. Philbin said Monday he wanted to have a QB in place by the time the team leaves for London.
Philbin was asked if he felt it necessary to sit down with Tannehill after the coach was publicly noncommittal about his plans.
"I talk to him all the time. So we have multiple conversations," he said. "So again, I communicate with him frequently. And yeah, any kind of -- I don't usually get into personal conversations that we have."
Tannehill's struggles have given Philbin pause, but it's too early in the season to give up on the former first-round draft pick who was expected to emerge as the face of the franchise.
Moore is a serviceable backup option, but he's not going to save the season. The Dolphins' offense -- and Philbin's coaching career in Miami -- ride on Tannehill reaching expectations.
He can't do that on the bench.
