Dwayne Jarrett announces retirement from football

We spent time this week talking about the crop of failed wideouts drafted by the Jacksonville Jaguars over the years.

The team they entered the NFL with in 1995, the Carolina Panthers, have a few pass-catching busts of their own, including receiver Dwayne Jarrett. The team's second-round pick in 2007 announced his retirement this week, according to Len Pasquarelli of The Sports Xchange.

Jarrett's recent comeback attempt with the Saskatchewan Roughriders of the CFL fell flat, meaning the former USC star is done with football at age 25.

Jarrett totaled 35 catches for 428 yards and one touchdown in four NFL seasons with the Panthers. The 45th overall pick in 2007 never got off the ground, with just six catches for 73 yards as a rookie. He struggled with multiple DUI arrests during his NFL career was suspended for three games by the league in March for violating the league's personal conduct policy.

Jarrett hasn't appeared in an NFL game since 2010.
