Eagles backup quarterback Kevin Kolb said the best-case scenario for his career would be "to start" next season, either in Philadelphia or someplace else, according to the *Philadelphia Inquirer*.
"I love it here, as everybody knows," Kolb told the newspaper after Sunday's 21-16 wild-card loss to the Green Bay Packers. "My family's settled in here. I would love to be starting here. But I want to be starting somewhere."
Kolb, who is under contract for another season, was asked if he would accept a backup role behind Michael Vick next season.
"I can't answer that question," Kolb said. "Whatever happens, you want to know the answer so you can prepare one way or the other. Our communication will be fine ... And I’ll be looking to starting here, hopefully."
Kolb's concussion in Week 1 against the Packers cut short his first start and gave Vick his first chance to play meaningful minutes in four years. Vick's re-emergence as one of the game's most-electrifying players leaves Kolb's status in limbo.
"Obviously, there’s a chance for a lot of things," Kolb said. "So I'll just wait and just talk to these guys and see what happens."
Vick completed 20 of 36 passes for 292 yards, ran for a touchdown and threw for another in the wild-card loss to the Packers. He also rushed for 33 yards in his first playoff start since losing the 2005 NFC Championship Game on the same field as a member of the Atlanta Falcons.
After playing the final game of a two-year contract, Vick hopes to return to a franchise that gave him an unexpected second chance. He surely could command a lucrative deal, but the Eagles might simply tag him as their franchise player and keep him on a one-year deal.
"I still feel like I can play at a high level for the next few years," Vick said.
