DeSean Jackson definitely is coming back to Philadelphia next season. Or he's definitely not.
It really depends how you choose to interpret comments made by Eagles general manager Howie Roseman on Thursday.
Jackson is Michael Vick's premier playmaker in the passing game, but he's coming off a season in which a protracted holdout, discipline issues and tumbling production put his future in Philadelphia in doubt. The wide receiver is due to become an unrestricted free agent next month.
"We feel fortunate to have a player of DeSean Jackson's magnitude on our football team," Roseman said, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer. "And I think the future is bright for DeSean Jackson."
Nice words, sure, and indisputable proof that Roseman knows Jackson's full name. But what does it all mean?
"You want to always keep your really good players under contract. That's the way it's always been," Roseman said. "It's been draft and let's extend them and re-sign them. It just doesn't always happen that that's how it works."
