Eagles WR A.J. Brown (hamstring) questionable to play Monday vs. Falcons

The Eagles are heading into their Monday Night Football matchup against the Falcons with a dinged up WR1.

A.J. Brown (hamstring) is questionable to play, potentially delaying his encore to a 119-yard receiving performance in Week 1.

Speaking on Saturday morning, head coach Nick Sirianni told reporters that Brown got a little tight Friday, resulting in a limited session out of precaution.

Although he indicated Philadelphia might handle Brown similarly in its final practice before hosting Atlanta, Brown did not participate at all on Saturday.

The three-time Pro Bowler hasn't missed a game since joining the Eagles in 2022, and he's proven to be as exceptional as he's been healthy. Brown entered his third campaign in Philly colors with 194 receptions, 2,952 yards and 18 touchdowns for the club.

He was the team's leading receiver in all of those categories last season, tying DeVonta Smith in receiving TDs with seven.

It'll be Smith who becomes Jalen Hurts' far-and-away No. 1 target if Brown should miss the contest. He primarily played out of the slot in the season opener against the Packers, doing so on 26 of his 35 routes, per Next Gen Stats, but would presumably move around a bit more in an increased role.

Tight end Dallas Goedert and running back Saquon Barkley would also need to step up in the passing game, as would recent arrival WR Jahan Dotson, who saw one target without a catch on 32 snaps in his Eagles debut last week.

The Eagles possess the weapons to compensate should Brown need to sit in an early season matchup -- having to do so just isn't ideal.

Philadelphia and Atlanta kick off Monday at 8:15 p.m. ET.
