Peyton Manning is on pace to throw for 64 touchdown passes this season, but don't bother Ernie Sims with that information.
The Dallas Cowboys linebacker -- set to face Manning's Denver Broncos on Sunday -- has grown tired of the hoopla surrounding the seemingly untouchable passer.
"I'm sick of hearing about Peyton Manning," Sims said, per The Dallas Morning News. "We just got to go out there and do what we've got to do."
Said Sims: "You hear it all the time when a guy walks into the locker room: 'Peyton Manning threw for four touchdowns, this and that.' Yeah, he's a great player. You can't take that away from him. But at the end of the day, we're all competitors. And me being a competitor, I don't like that. I am ready to play football."
Our apologies to Ernie, but the buzz around Manning only will grow. On this week's "Around The League Podcast," we wondered if Denver might be cooking up an undefeated campaign. That's premature chatter, but the Broncos haven't just beaten teams, they've shattered them.
It's an outstanding test for Sims and the Cowboys. They look like the best team in the NFC East, but that's not saying much. If they can slow down Denver's offense, we'll be talking about someone other than Peyton come Monday.
