Former first-round pick Kadarius Toney is on to team No. 3.
Toney, who was cut by the Kansas City Chiefs ahead of the 2024 season, is signing with the Cleveland Browns practice squad, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported Monday.
A dynamic talent who's flashed big-play ability but never been able to consistently produce, Toney was taken with the 2021 NFL Draft's 20th overall pick by the New York Giants.
He was traded amid just his second season with Big Blue to the Chiefs and helped them win a Super Bowl, turning in a massive 65-yard punt return and hauling in a 5-yard touchdown pass. However, the big plays didn't outweigh the inconsistent play-to-play production. Staying healthy has also been an issue.
Through 32 career games in four seasons, Toney has started 10 games, tallied 82 receptions for 760 yards and just three touchdowns.
Waived by the Chiefs on Aug. 27, Toney also visited with the Seattle Seahawks, per Rapoport. Now, he'll get a shot with the Browns, hoping to ease back in with the practice squad before joining a wide receiver room that includes Amari Cooper, Jerry Jeudy and Elijah Moore.
Coming off a listless 33-17 Week 1 loss against the Dallas Cowboys, the Browns could use a spark on offense or special teams and they're hoping Toney can provide that.
