Ex-Ohio State CB Bradley Roby: 'I was not drunk'

Former Ohio State cornerback Bradley Roby's court date following a citation for operating a vehicle while under the influence is Friday, but he opened his defense outside the courtroom via Twitter:

Roby reportedly failed a field sobriety test from the Columbus Police Department, but as the breath analyis record Roby tweeted indicates, his blood-alcohol level was just .008. That doesn't rise to the OVI standard in the state of Ohio, according to drivinglaws.org.

Roby's agent, Michael Perrett, defended his client with a brief statement and said he doesn't expect the case to be an issue for Roby.

"His BAC test registered a negligible .008, and after further testing at the police station, he was very quickly released on his own recognizance," Perrett said in a prepared statement. "There are no other charges, and we are confident that this matter will be resolved quickly and favorably for Bradley."

For Bradley, however, the legal issue is separate from the perception issue. Two weeks before the draft, a black mark on a character evaluation is the last thing any prospect needs, something South Carolina defensive lineman Kelcy Quarles said in no uncertain terms after a report that he was wanted for questioning about a nightclub brawl.
