Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Julio Jones is running, cutting and ahead of schedule in his return from foot surgery, but Atlanta's list of the walking wounded has added another pass-catcher.
The team announced Saturday that Drew Davis has been placed on the training camp physically unable to perform list.
"Drew felt some discomfort in his foot at the end of minicamp," coach Mike Smith told the team's official website. "We decided to send him to the doctors for some evaluations and it was determined he had suffered an injury that would require a procedure. He recently had the procedure done and we expect him to miss around six weeks, which is why we have decided to place him on Training Camp PUP."
Davis caught 12 passes for 216 yards and two scores last season while playing a key role on special teams. With Jones, Roddy White and last year's breakout performer, Harry Douglas, on the roster, Atlanta has more than enough talent to fill the position.
Entering his third season, the undrafted Davis still remains a strong bet to make the Falcons' roster for what he offers as a special-teamer. If the timetable sticks, look for him to return to the mix about three weeks into camp.
