From Batman vs. Superman to Uncle Jesse vs. Kimmy Gibbler, rivalries are a fixture in our culture, and nowhere is this more prevalent than in American sports. Fans across the country declare themselves as the predominant fanbase by which all others are measured. Unfortunately, there's never been a real, concrete way to determine which fanbase reigns supreme...until now.
In anticipation of Thursday night's matchup between the Buffalo Bills and Miami Dolphins on NFL Network, Facebook gathered information on the fanbases in Buffalo and Miami and determined what their preferences were in areas outside of football.
With this new information at our disposal, let's try and settle the fanbase debate between Buffalo and Miami.
NBA Athlete
Bills: Michael Jordan
Dolphins: LeBron James
There's really no question about which fanbase takes the prize in this category. While I'm sure some Dolphins fans still like LeBron even though he took his talents back to the shores of Lake Erie, the fact remains that anybody who takes James over Jordan misses out on being the cooler fanbase. First, James is just 2-3 in the NBA Finals while Jordan went 6-0. Plus, Jordan knows Bugs Bunny and starred with him in a film with the greatest soundtrack of all time.
Advantage:Bills Fans
MUSICIAN / BAND
Bills: Kenny Chesney
Dolphins: Young Jeezy
Kenny Chesney once wrote a song called, "All I Want for Christmas Is a Real Good Tan."
Advantage:Dolphins Fans
COMEDIAN
Bills: Larry the Cable Guy
Dolphins: George Lopez
I don't have a strong opinion about either of these comedians, but I take exception to the fact that Larry the Cable Guy is infringing on an American classic by making "Jingle All the Way 2." No one could ever match the comedic stylings of Schwarzenegger and Sinbad. Plus, I doubt this sequel includes that kid who played young Anakin Skywalker in "Episode I: Darth Maul's Dead Already?"
Advantage:Dolphins Fans
FOOD
Bills: Bacon
Dolphins: Pizza
This is a tough one. Both are staples in American cuisine, and both are perfect additions to any Sunday tailgate party. If Guy Fieri's infamous donkey sauce was on the menu of either fanbase that might tip the scales. As it stands, you can't argue with either one.
Advantage: Draw
CARS
Bills: Jeep
Dolphins: Camaro
It should be a rule that when you purchase a Camaro you have to sign a waiver forfeiting your right to ever own a Transformers decal. Yes, a Camaro was in the movie "Transformers." A Toyota Previa was also in the 90s classic "Carpool," but we don't see decals of Tom Arnold's face on minivans, do we? I'll go with the Jeep here. And, if you're a Bills fan and happen to own an open air Jeep in Buffalo, you deserve some credit.
Advantage:Bills Fans
ACTOR
Bills: Will Ferrell
Dolphins: Martin Lawrence
I like both these guys, but Lawrence hasn't done much since "Big Mommas: Like Father, Like Son" because, honestly, how can you top that? Ferrell let me down a bit with "Anchorman 2" but was solid as Lord Business in "The Lego Movie." Buffalo's loyalty to Ferrell proves that everything is cool when you're part of a team.
Advantage:Bills Fans
In the end, I have to give the edge to the Buffalo fanbase. Plus, their team hasn't had a winning season since 2004, and hasn't reached the postseason since the 1999 season (the longest active playoff drought in the league). They also had one of the greatest owners in professional sports history in the late, great Ralph Wilson.
Plus, they had to endure this last year.
