Oh my gosh. The Eagles had the opportunity to do the funniest thing on Sunday. Jalen Hurts was stopped at the 1-yard line late in the second quarter against the Ravens and I was CONVINCED Philly would go to Saquon Barkley on the next play to give him a score he richly deserved after having so many touchdown opportunities vultured from him this season. But nope. The Eagles went back to Hurts. I know this is not a QB column, but Hurts has 12 rushing touchdowns this year. He’s NEVER going to regress in that category. Well, he won’t until it’s the year you draft him. That’s the way fantasy football works. I mean, how many of you picked Christian McCaffrey for the first time this season? Now, on to the rest of the notes ...

  • Let’s go back to Saquon Barkley. Why didn’t I draft him over CMC this year? Well, in fairness, I have no CMC shares, but Barkley easily should have gone earlier in drafts. He has six games with more than 26 fantasy points. The next-closest player has four.
  • Alvin Kamara has 19-plus fantasy points in one of his last eight games, which is wild because he’s averaged 21 touches per game during that span. But he could eat this week against the Giants considering New York has allowed the second-most fantasy points per game to running backs over the last four weeks.
  • I’m worried about Breece Hall, who has 13-plus fantasy points only once in the last five games. This week the Jets visit the Dolphins, who have allowed only one top-12 running back in the last seven games.
  • You might not be able to get away from starting Tony Pollard, but he’s scored more than nine fantasy points only once in his last three games.
  • Najee Harris was the fantasy RB3 in Week 13 with 24.9 points against the Bengals. I think that production had more to do with the opponent than anything else, which means the Cowboys’ Rico Dowdle could be a great play this week against Cincinnati.
  • Christian McCaffrey and Jordan Mason are headed to injured reserve, which means Isaac Guerendo is going to be the dude in the 49ers’ backfield. I don’t hate his matchup this week against the Bears, who allow a lot of production on the ground. I know the Bears are a wild card because we don’t know how they will respond in their first game since the firing of Matt Eberflus. But I’m still confident in the 49ers’ ground game.
  • Chuba Hubbard fumbled the ball away in a critical moment against the Buccaneers in Week 13, and I don’t know if he’s going to bounce back this week against the Eagles. Philly has allowed the fifth-fewest FPPG to running backs this season.
  • I know the Texans are on a bye and your trade deadline has likely passed. But did you know they play the Dolphins, Chiefs and Ravens in their next three games? That could be rough for Houston.

EDITOR'S UPDATE: Goedert is considered week to week after suffering a knee injury on Sunday, NFL Network Insider Tom Pelissero reported on Tuesday. Per Pelissero, Goedert is not expected to play against the Panthers. During a three-game absence by Goedert earlier this season, tight end Grant Calcaterra was targeted nine times, third-most on the team in that span, for nine catches and 93 receiving yards.

  • DeAndre Hopkins has at least 13 fantasy points in two straight games. He has 325 receiving yards since he joined Kansas City in Week 8. The Chargers, who visit the Chiefs this week, have allowed the sixth-most FPPG to wide receivers in the last four weeks.
  • How about my dude, Nick Westbrook-Ikhine? He has scored at least 11 fantasy points in five of the last six games. He has at least one touchdown in seven of the last eight games. This week he’ll face the Jaguars, who have allowed the third-most FPPG to wide receivers this season.
  • By the way, if you’ve been eliminated from playoff contention in your league, make sure you set your lineup this week just in case you are playing spoiler. I would refrain from making waiver claims this week just to be cool, but at the same time, you’re old enough to make your own decisions. Do you. But try to lose (or win) with some dignity. Sorry, I’ll stop preaching.
