Darryl Rudolph, the father of 2017 NFL Draft prospect Travis Rudolph, was killed in an accidental shooting Friday morning, according to the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office.
The shooting occurred at Sugar D's Adult Cabaret, where Rudolph, 55, was making repairs in a storage room when he was shot in the back/neck area, according to police. He later died at St. Mary's Medical Center. Although the investigation is ongoing, police determined that it was not an intentional shooting, and that the gunshot came from an adjacent room when another coworker was moving a firearm off of a shelf.
Rudolph, a wide receiver, is among Florida State's prospects for the 2017 draft, which begins Thursday in Philadelphia. He caught 56 passes for 840 yards and seven touchdowns last year for the Seminoles. Rudolph (6-foot, 190 pounds) ran a 4.65 40-yard dash at the NFL Scouting Combine in March.
Rudolph befriended a child with autism last year while visiting a middle school, which made national news after the child's mother thanked Rudolph via Facebook.
