'Fins fans fly banner screaming for GM Ireland's dismissal

As promised, a collection of zealous Dolphins fans flew a poison-pen banner over Sun Life Stadium in the moments before Sunday's season finale against the Jets.

The airplane-guided singage was targeted at the highest reaches of Miami's franchise: owner Stephen Ross and general manager Jeff Ireland.

"Mr. Ross: Save our Dolphins, fire Ireland," the banner read, flittering in the January air.

The stunt was the brainchild of die-hards Chris Joseph and Roger Paul, who operate Finsnation.com, and raised $1,500 (largely from fan donations) in an effort to deep-six Ireland's employment status.

"It was glorious!" a posting on the website read, according to the South Florida Sun Sentinel.

Meanwhile, down on terra firma, the Dolphins were busy taking care of business, winning their sixth game in their last nine tries and knocking Rex Ryan's Jets out of playoff contention.

That's not good enough for this band of loyalists seeking deeper changes in South Beach.
